Welcome to Price Creek Animal Hospital! My name is Molly. I am the hospital mascot and official greeter. I generally come to work two or three days a week. I really enjoy seeing everyone when they come in for a visit. It will be my job to take you on a tour of our clinic.
This is what our building looks like from the road. There is a large front yard perfect for walking dogs who are nervous about coming to see the doctor. Notice the solar panels on the roof. All of our water is heated using a solar hot water system.
To get to our front door, you can use either the stairs or the front path. There is a set of handmade willow furniture on the porch if you prefer to be outside while you wait to see the doctor.
One of the receptionists will greet you in the lobby. The lobby was designed to be large enough to allow pets who need their own space to have plenty of it. I like to sit under the ceiling fan so everyone can see me when they come in the door. The glass door you see in this picture leads to the exam rooms.
After you go through the glass door in the lobby, your pet will be weighed on the scale and then led into one of our three exam rooms. Each of our exams rooms has a computer in it because we use a paperless medical record system. This allows the doctor to pull up a patients file easily during their exam. The picture shown is actually two photographs. The one on the left shows the inside of an exam room. The picture on the right shows my friend, Dylan Lively, looking out the exam room door.
Sometimes the doctor needs the patient to be in the treatment area instead of the exam room. The treatment area is where anything can happen. Examples of procedures that happen here would be nail trims, catheter placement, various tests, dentals and some grooming. Most emergencies get triaged in this area also.
The Surgical Suite is a busy area of the hospital. This room is well equipped to handle surgeries of all kinds, from spays and neuters to dachsunds with bad backs. The doctor does have a passion for orthopedic surgeries. Did you know he won all of the surgical awards when he was in school? Today his awards are all of the referrals he gets from fellow doctors to fix knees and other joints.
After surgery, most pets recover in heated recovery kennels. Once fully awake, they may move into our dog ward. The dog ward is designed so all of our patients and boarders can see each other. This was done because dogs are social and like to know what each other is doing. Dylan Lively and Cheyenne Akin watching what is going on now.
This room is also were most grooming is taken care of. Sometimes I get trapped in here and someone gives me a bath. Baths are not my favorite thing, but I do like all the compliments I get when it is over.
The cats have their own room. Most cats do not care to see each other so much as to see what is going on around them. Because of that, the cat ward was designed so the cats could see both outside and into the treatment area. This picture is also a composed of two photographs. The picture on the left shows most of the cat ward. The cat in both pictures is Whitman Meyer, a frequent boarder. Whitman and I have become pretty good friends, but I learned some cats don't enjoy me as much as I enjoy them.
When your hospital experience has been completed, the staff will direct you to the checkout desk. Once there, the receptionist will go over your invoice and assist you in getting checked out. If you need to schedule a follow-up appointment, you can do this here also. Sometimes they offer treats to their patients before they leave.
Thanks for taking a tour with me.
I hope I get to meet you and your pet soon! |
